Dapagliflozin works by inhibiting a protein in the kidneys called SGLT2 (sodium-glucose co-transporter 2). This protein is responsible for reabsorbing glucose from the urine back into the bloodstream. By blocking SGLT2, dapagliflozin allows excess glucose to be excreted in the urine, thus lowering blood sugar levels.

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
